Jewel Changi Airport (Fhoto RDt.) |
Damariotimes. After
enjoying a flight from Indonesia, we arrived in Singapore. Upon reaching Changi
Airport, one of the highlighted tourist destinations is Jewel Changi Airport, a
place that combines natural beauty with architectural innovation.
Located within the Changi Airport complex, Jewel
offers a spectacular tourist experience with the world's tallest indoor
waterfall, the HSBC Rain Vortex, cascading from a height of 40 meters. This
waterfall is the centerpiece of the Shiseido Forest Valley, an artificial
forest that utilizes natural lighting and is home to approximately 900 trees
and 60,000 shrubs.
The curved steel dome covers a garden area of 135,700
square meters, creating a stunning atmosphere. Surrounding the waterfall are
five levels of terraced floors above and below, as well as bridges that allow
visitors to enjoy views from various angles. The neatly arranged plants around
the waterfall enhance the beauty and freshness of the environment.
Jewel Changi Airport is directly connected to Terminal
1 and can be accessed via connecting bridges from Terminals 2 and 3. Although
the distance from Terminal 4 is slightly farther, the FS Universitas Negeri
Malang group can easily reach this location by land. After a short journey from
Harbour Front Ferry, they arrived at Jewel, which is only about 500 meters
away, passing through corridors lined with 280 international brand shops and
restaurants.
Upon arriving at Jewel, the group was greeted by a
magnificent Christmas tree decoration before finally enjoying the main view of
the artificial waterfall, which was inaugurated on April 17, 2019, a year
before the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world. This visit provided new insights
into the development of sustainable and eco-friendly tourist destinations.
With the experience gained from Jewel Changi, it is
hoped that FS Universitas Negeri Malang can contribute to the development of
sustainable and eco-friendly tourist destinations in their homeland.
